Who We Are

The Volunteer Center of Santa Cruz County began as a vision to help the underserved populations in and around Santa Cruz. Three remarkable women worked to help make this vision a reality, and from there, the Center grew into what it is today -- a community-focused multi-division beacon of hope for the populations we serve. Empowered Aging (formerly known as Senior Programs) has been a part of the Volunteer Center since its inception. By addressing the needs of seniors, we hope to empower our participants to enjoy their golden years with the comfort and security that everyone deserves.

What We Do

The Volunteer Center oversees many different programs, but the Empowered Aging Division of the Center has a special focus on seniors and addressing the needs of this population. The program that we are expanding into San Benito County is our Fall Prevention program, which features an evidence-based fall prevention class series called Matter of Balance. Through this class series, seniors learn how to prevent falls, home safety, a daily exercise regimen, and most importantly how to build the confidence and empowerment needed to conquer the fear of falling.
