Volunteer: HICAP Volunteers

HICAP is a government funded program that educates Seniors on how Medicare works. HICAP enlists volunteers to meet program goals. There is training provided by both State and Federal agencies to help get volunteers educated on how Medicare works. Once State registered through the California Department of Aging (CDA) volunteers work with local HICAP to deliver services to Seniors and their families. Counselors set their own hours for counseling. Most volunteers counsel 2 to 4 hours per week.
